Soybean Representation
Grain SA personnel and executive members represent producers at various industry forums affecting the soybean industry, including the Sunflower and Soybean Forum; Sunflower value chain-, Soybean value chain meetings and the JSE Advisory committee.
GSA also represents grain producers at the Agriculture- and Agro-processing Master
Plan (AAMP) committee.

Breeding & Technology Levy

Instrumental in the development of a Breeding & Technology levy ensuring its members have access to the latest international technology and breeding material in soybeans.

New technology has been launched and in the pipeline. New companies investing in SA releasing new cultivars.
Soybean And Soybean Oilcake Quality

Actively involved in the industry to ensure that the quality of South African soybeans and soybean oilcake is comparable in relation to other countries.
Market Expansion

Conversing with policy makers to expand local demand such as biofuels (soybeans & grain sorghum) and usage of maize for bioplastic production.

Continuously supporting growth opportunities within the animal feed market to grow local demand (such as poultry and red meat exports). Actively involved to grow the uptake for local soybeans and to open export markets.

Logistical efficiency in the industry is focusing to increase local demand of oilcake against competition from international imports.

Successfully introduced a protocol for exports of soybeans to China, whilst keeping other markets open. Also assisted in opening the Indonesian, Japanese and Egypt market for exports.
