We are Phahama Grain Phakama (PGP) a NPO and we are the Farmer development entity under Grain SA’s group of entities.

2. What do we do?
   • Assist farmers to use the land that they have available, optimally, through the production of grains, cereals and oil seeds
   • Train and capacity build farmers of all sizes
   • Mentor loan and grant funded farmers on their farms
   • Assist farmers to apply for production loans
   • Manage production financing for various institutions
   • Farmer of the Year competition at different levels

2. Why do we do it?
   • To contribute towards household and national food security
   • To build a united, inclusive and prosperous agricultural sector
   • Improve the image of Agriculture amongst the sector

   • On farm mentoring and support
   • Demonstration trials and farmers days
   • Training courses
   • Pula Imvula monthly magazine
   • Beyond Abundance Project for smaller self-funded farmers (using CSI funding from other institutions)
   • Management of production loan financing for farmers (for those qualifying for loan financing) including procurement of inputs
   • On farm mentoring of farmers funded by other institutions (banks and agri-businesses)
   • Assist farmers to access markets for their products
   • Implement CSI projects

   • Subsistence farmers:
     • Farmers who plants 5 to 10 ha of arable land
     • Join a Study group in your area by becoming a member of GSA (contact the Regional Office in your area)
     • Study group meetings are seen as Information sharing sessions
     • You can gain access to research through the GSA Research team
     • We offer Training courses from beginner to Advanced Farmers each tailored to the need of the farmers
     • Become part of the Beyond Abundance project and get inputs at discounted prices and mentorship
     • You can also be nominated for the Farmer of the Year competition
   • Small holder farmers
     • Farmers who plants 10.5 to 50 ha of arable land
     • Join a Study group in your area by becoming a member of GSA (contact the Regional Office in your area)
     • Attend Study group meetings to receive Information on Grain production
     • You can gain access to research through the GSA Research team
     • We offer Training courses from beginner to Advanced Farmers each tailored to the need of the farmers
     • We can prepare you to access one of the many projects we offer – be it a Loan Funded project or a Mentorship project through one-on-one mentoring
     • You can also be nominated for the Farmer of the Year competition
   • Potential commercial farmers
     • Farmer who plant more than 50 ha of arable land or produce 100 – 249 tons of Grain
     • Join by becoming a member of GSA (contact the Regional Office in your area)
     • We offer Training courses for Advanced Farmers
     • You can gain access to research through the GSA Research team
     • We can prepare and assist you to access one of the many projects we offer – be it a Loan Funded project or a Mentorship project through one-on-one mentoring
     • You can also be nominated for the Farmer of the Year competition
   • New Era Commercial farmers
     • Farmers who are producing more than 250 tons
     • Join by becoming a member of GSA (contact the Regional Office in your area)
     • We offer Training courses for Advanced Farmers
     • You can gain access to research through the GSA Research team
     • We can prepare and assist you to access one of the many projects we offer – be it a Loan Funded project or a Mentorship project through one-on-one mentoring
     • You can also be nominated for the Farmer of the Year competition
